exploring different artists and their associations with collage
My absolute favourite is Henri Matisse - I appreciate the clarity of his colour and the simple form of some of his collage experience (with collage meaning to glue ) in his jazz series like the blue nude .

My idea
I am going to include all contempory issues with a fore ground of a mother and child looking into a collage of contempory issues! But how am I going to do this? I need to research some backgrounds. Is it going to be a dark portrayal or a bright and hopeful one? I think a progresssion of both. How will I portray this, what materials should/can I use? What is the best glue? How big will it be? What style do I like? How will I proportion the images onto a canvas ? What colours will assist in portraying my message? How can I show a mothers apprehension ? Lots of research to do!
My assessment
My assessment for Visual art and innovation is to choose an art style or form and create an art piece using the elememnts, principles and language of art. I am working with a partner to create an education package for art in a primary education setting. The art style/ form we have chosen is collage. As well as an art piece I have to create a Pecha Kucha to present my journey and an art statement for my piece. The art piece is to be on a contemporary issue.

Different styles of collage
I have a favourite series of collage work - it is the Jazz period or series by famous artist Henry Matisse. It is believed - written that he was one of the first artist to use this form of cutting out shapes - sometimes called scissor painting.
I am going to use this style for my art piece as I think it is very doable for primary students and any budding artist.
I am going to cut out images from google and appropriate them to make them mine and stick them on to a canvas.
The art form, Collage, includes many different styles or techniques.
The process - research
